“Ouch, NOOOOO…. it hurts me”
Any parent probably instantly recognises those words… the loud, piercing screeches as the hair brush pulls through tangled frizz, curls and nasty knots.
I have to admit I’ve always been super lucky when it comes to knots; my hair is dead-straight after all but my 5 year old stepdaughter hasn’t been quite as fortunate. She’s been blessed with Daddy’s curls and every morning is a battle between hair and brush in an attempt to tame the beast.
Over a year into living with her (and trying everything from over conditioning to tangle teasers to hard bristled brushes) I’ve finally found something that actually works! No more piglet-style squeals during the morning school rush, instead it’s giggles fancy hairstyles and happy faces.
I originally found this recipe on one of my favourite blogs but added a few tweaks to make it a little more child friendly and now I get to share it with you.
THE ULTIMATE DETANGLER
1/8 cup vegetable glycerine
1/8 cup organic conditioner
1 cup filtered water
20 drops cherry Fragrant Oil
*you can use any fragrant or Essential Oil of choice, but my 5 year old lives for cherries
Pour all the ingredients into a spray bottle, cap and shake well to combine.
TO USE: spray onto the hair and brush through using a fine-tooth comb. No More Tears!
Lots of Love
